Deci Watt – Gravity Light

deciWatt have developed a light for developing countries that does not rely on the grid nor solar power which can be expensive and often environmentally unfriendly to produce, as well as needing batteries to operate at night.

By using a weight that is lifted by the user, the device is powered by the controlled descent of the weight which turns a dynamo.

Because of its ability to generate a current in a completely isolated, internal space; and because of its need to be manually managed / re-wound it could be an interesting side-feature of an art-piece that has an eco-theme and a social element (the social element could be explored as a type of game that uses the crowd to win the device.)

For these reasons I am recording this device, for possible future reference.
