1. Physical structures should be made using locally-sourced materials. Alternatives to non-natural materials must be sought, and only as a last resort should artificial materials be used.
  2. Artefacts should encourage playfulness, interaction and curiousness.
  3. Natural processes of change must be incorporated/chanelled into the work, for example: the growth of algae, crystals, bacteria, fungi; the sprouting of seeds/growth of plants; the constructive energies of insects (ants, wasps, bees);
  4. The role of digital technology is always as facilitator and must never take centre-stage.
  5. Artefacts must not be constructed or positioned in such a way that is detrimental to the established non-human surroundings
